How to Look Better in Photos: The Foot Placement Trick Every Woman Needs to Know

Ever look at a photo of yourself and think, something’s just… off? You can’t quite put your finger on it, but the vibe feels awkward, stiff, or clunky. Chances are, it’s not your smile, your outfit, or even your pose. It’s your feet.

Yep, foot placement is one of the sneakiest culprits for making a perfectly good photo look weird. When your feet are off, the whole photo feels off. And it’s not because you need dancer’s toes or years of yoga flexibility — it’s because your feet set the tone for your body language.

Here are three common mistakes I see (straight out of my Everyday Posing Kit):

1. Working Against the Natural Line of Your Leg

When your foot angles in a completely different direction to your leg, it creates tension in the photo. Your body looks twisted or uncomfortable, even if you don’t feel it in the moment. It’s like your leg and foot are in two different conversations and the camera catches that disconnection.

2. Pulling Toes Back Instead of Pointing

You know when your toes are pulled back so much it looks like you’re gripping for dear life? That little bend makes your foot look stunted and heavy. Instead of elongating your leg, it chops the line short.

3. Pigeon-Toed Feet

Turning your toes in might feel casual in the moment, but on camera it often reads as clumsy or childlike. It shortens your frame and makes the whole lower body look off balance.

The Big Fix

Your feet should follow your body’s natural flow. Keep the line of your leg and foot moving in the same direction, extend your toes gently so your legs look long and relaxed, and keep your feet pointing naturally forward or slightly out. Subtle, simple adjustments that make the entire photo look more polished and effortless.

This is just one of the details I cover in the Everyday Posing Kit. It’s not another “copy this pose” guide — it’s my complete 64-page method that shows you how to shape, flatter, and understand your angles so you always look good in photos, without memorising stiff poses.
